World Health Day: Div Com Kashmir plants Conifer sapling at Old Assembly Complex premises

SRINAGAR, APRIL 07: Following changing weather conditions due to global warming and in lieu with government’s programme to increase the green/forest cover in J&K, the Divisional Covid Control Room Kashmir (DCCRK) highlighted the importance of afforestation to protect human lives on the World Health Day by organizing plantation programme within the office premises.

The plantation drive was kick started by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole by planting coniferous sapling and watered it in presence of Incharge DCCRK, Tahir Ahmad Magray, SSO/ Epidemiologist, Dr Talat Jabeen; RD, DSF, Kashmir Mehrajudin Malik and other officers.

The World Health Day is being observed with a theme ‘Our Planet, Our Health’ which lays  emphasis on collective approach of people towards preservation and Conservation of earth and its biodiversity by afforestation to combat the global warming and its hazardous effects like droughts, floods, Forest fires besides increasing Ultra violet radiations,  allergies and skin problems.

Besides, the significance of today’s theme was primarily focused on saving our planet from various forms of carbon emissions and pollutants having a tendency of increasing diseases like cancers, asthma, heart disease along with the serious impact of climate change on our Planet.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Talat said that Global warming is a serious concern which has to be addressed with plantation and added that today DCCRK in collaboration with the Social Forestry Department held a plantation drive to contribute in the endeavor of saving our planet.

RD, DSF, Kashmir Mehrajudin Malik also spoke about various preventive strategies which need to be adopted to save our planet and keep all of us not only physically but mentally as well as socially healthy.

District Skill Committee meeting held at Anantnag

ANANTNAG, APRIL 07: The District Skill Committee meeting was held here under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr Piyush Singla to discuss identification of skill hubs, formation of subcommittee, updation of DSC member data on SANKALP Portal and creation of centralized database on private training centres.

The Chair while addressing the participants said that the focus should be on imparting practical skill development training that is designed as per the present market demand. He said for the purpose 5 Skill Training Institutes will start imparting training.

Dr Singla said that capacity building programmes are essential to ensure that the program can be scaled up as per requirement. He said the District has a strong tourist inflow, good road connectivity and strong educational infrastructure. With skill enhancement training, the youth can leverage these factors to gain meaningful employment and become valuable service providers.

Key Industrial partners were also consulted both to understand their requirements as well as to explore the possibility of apprenticeship programs for on the job training.

The DC also reviewed the awareness activities carried out through various IEC activities and pressed for a focused and wider reaching awareness campaign.

The meeting was attended by ADC, CPO, DSWO, Nodal Officer, EDI, Nodal Officer, Mission Youth, ALC, AD Employment among others.
