UDHAMPUR, APRIL 07:- A poster making competition was today organized by Red Ribbon Club of Government College for Women Udhampur, in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society, 1st J&K Girls Battalion NCC, Srinagar and NSS units   to mark the celebration of World Health Day on the theme “Our planet Our Health.”

The Programme was organised under the supervision of Dr. Kewal Kumar, convenor Red Ribbon Club, Prof Sumita Rao and Prof Sanjay Kumar, NSS POs and Prof Shallu Jasrotia, Incharge ANO, 1st J&K Girls Battalion NCC, Srinagar. Prof. Minu Mahajan, Principal of the college was the chief guest on this occasion.

In all, 28 students participated in the poster making competition and made beautiful and message oriented posters on the given theme.

Prof. Seema Sharma, HOD Music, Dr. Sanjeet Kour, HOD Zoology and Prof. Ashni Devi, HOD Botany were the jury members.

On the basis of judgment of jury members,  Sonika Singh  of Sem-I,  Saher Shakeel of Sem-III and  Palvi Sharma of Sem -I  were adjudged 1st , 2nd and 3rd   respectively, while Vaishali Thappa of Sem-III, Bevi Devi of Sem-I and Seema Kumari  of Sem-I got 1st, 2nd and 3rd consolation prizes, respectively.

While speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest appreciated the initiative taken by the organisers and stated that such awareness programmes in educational institutions will go a long way in sensitizing the masses about the importance of this day. She also emphasised on how our personal health and health of the planet are interrelated.

Among others, Prof. Parmjeet Singh, Prof. Sanjeev Upadhaya, Prof. Tania Mahajan and Prof Yash Kumar were present on the occasion.
