Gram Swaraj Mahina: Gram Sabhas held in 160 Panchayats

ANANTNAG, APRIL 06: As part of Gram Swaraj Mahina, the district Anantnag has held gram sabhas in 160 panchayats in 5 days. Similarly various other initiatives encouraging local participation and generating awareness were held in various panchayats.

Riyaz Ahmad Shah, ACD Anantnag said that in the first phase of the Gram Swaraj Mahina, gram sabhas have been held in 160 panchayats in 5 days. He said that the Gram Sabhas were driven by PRI participation and saw attendance by large gatherings. He said thorough deliberations were held on development plans and other local priority matters.

The gram sabhas adopted resolutions to achieve the Sustainable Development goals, fixed times and road maps for achieving the same, he added.

The ACD said that sanitation drives, cleaning of water bodies, and inauguration of previous year’s works were held in the 160 panchayats. He said in the next 5 days, all 335 gram panchayats will be completed.

To emphasize the increasing role of youth in development decisions, Riyaz Ahmad said that sports activities were organised in all 160 panchayats. He said that the sports activities saw participation of male as well as female players.

Efforts are a foot to achieve substantial progress on the government’s 100 points programme as a prelude to National Panchayat Day to be celebrated on 24th of April. The 100 points programme aims to empower, augment and saturate various beneficiary related schemes in the entire UT.
