April 05: Police in Budgam have arrested two persons and seized 02 vehicles for illegal mining and extraction of minerals.
Officers from PS Khansahib during patrolling near Nalla Shali-Ganga, arrested two persons and seized 02 vehicles (Tippers) involved in illegal mining and extraction of minerals from Nalla Shali-Ganga. They have been identified as Shahnawaz Ahmed Sheikh son of Ghulam Rasool Sheikh resident of Drager Khansahib and Mohammad Maqbool Najar son of Sona-ullah Najar resident of Lanilab Mujipathri.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigation has been initiated.
Police requests the people not to indulge in any kind of illegal mining activities from any Nallah as it is the violation of Government rules. Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
