Joint Director planning Imtiyaz Ahmad on Tuesday briefed media about the joint efforts rendered by the Labour Department, other allied Departments and CSCs etc to register 1.29 lakhs beneficiaries in record one month.

e- SHRAM is an integrated social security scheme for all types of unorganised workers with multiple benefits.  The age range of eligibility is 16-59 years and free registration is available at all CSCs centres with an Adhar card, and mobile number only required for enrollment.

The Joint Director said that the e-SHRAM portal launched by the Government is aimed at facilitating better execution of various Social Security schemes for all unorganised sector workers.

He said the e-SHRAM card is going to prove a multi benefit privilege card in future, however, partial disability cover of 1 Lakh, Death/ full disability cover of 2 lakhs etc are prominent at present. The registration further brings unorganized workers under the ambit of a centralized e-SHRAM portal for integrated social security benefits.

Imityaz Ahmad said it is the initiative of the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment for building a national database of unorganised workers and is an effort towards formalisation of unorganised workforce that will help to identify unorganized sector workers and is a much-needed step towards ensuring benefits of all Government Security schemes reaches to the targeted workers and their families.

He said during the enrollment drive besides other unorganized workers, sub-groups of unorganised workers like MGNREGA workers, SHG members under NRLM and NULM, street vendors, Auto drivers, construction (BOCW) workers, mid-day meal workers, domestic workers, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, Agricultural labourers and Fishermen workers were also registered through respective line departments under e-SHRAM in terms of defined targets.

Joint Director planning further appealed left out unorganised workers, if any, to get e-SHRAM Card immediately, so that no one is left even beyond the 100 percent estimated target set by Govt.
