Srinagar: The Kashmir Press Club has clarified that within hours of the takeover by the new interim body here on January 15, the official email account of the Club was hacked by miscreants who used the handle in a bid to mislead the media fraternity.
Stating that a formal complaint was being filed against the incident of the account hacking and subsequently mischief, the Kashmir Press Club interim body said that some vested interests were trying to create chaos in the media fraternity with sinister motives.
Taking serious note of the objectionable Tweets made by former Chief Ministers, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, the Club said the posts were made with “murderous intentions to jeopardise the lives of journalists, who do their job with professional integrity.”
Asking politicians to stay away from the internal affairs of the media fraternity, the Kashmir Press Club said it was an independent body and not fiefdom of any politicians or political parties who want journalists to behave like their stenos.
Stating that the takeover of the Kashmir Press Club took place amid sudden Covid lockdown in Srinagar district, the Club clarified that the local police station had approached the premises seeking implementation of the restrictions as issued by the District Magistrate Srinagar.
The interim body has appealed the KPC members not to visit the club from tomorrow till one week after one of the members of the club tested positive today on Saturday after he visited Kashmir press club on the occasion of take over of interim body.
