Jammu, Sep 4,: In twin cases of 1990’s, incarcerated chairman of banned Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front Muhammad Yasin Malik appeared through video conferencing in the court stating that he would like to cross examine the witnesses himself without taking the assistance from any lawyer.

The Special Court in Jammu today started cross examination of witnesses in in the three-decade-old cases of killing of four Indian Air Force personnel and the abduction of then Indian Home Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed”s daughter Dr Rubaiya Sayeed.

Among over a dozen accused only one accused and a witness was present while the Court deferred the cross examination process when the lawyers of the accused cited the disturbances in Valley as a reason for the absence of their clients.

Court sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that the incarcerated Chairman of banned JKLF, Muhammad Yasin Malik who has been made accused in both cases appeared through video conference. They said that Malik informed the court that he would like to cross-examine the witnesses himself and would not take any help from any lawyer.

Pertinently, four IAF personnel, including a squadron leader, Ravi Khanna, were killed in an alleged militant attack in January 25,1990 in Rawalpora area of Srinagar outskirts. Another case is related to the abduction of Rubiya Sayeed. (KNT)
