Ganderbal 7th August (JKNS):Additional Chief Secretary Health & Medical Education , Atal Dulloo took stock of developmental works at Govt Unani Medical College and Hospital Nawabagh Ganderbal today. The said project has been constructed at a cost of 32.50 crores by J&K Housing Board .
Pertinently, the Government Unani Medical College (GUMC) and Hospital Ganderbal Kashmir was granted permission by Central Governemnt last year to start the first batch of Bachelors in Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS) course from the academic session of 2020-21 with an intake capacity of 60 seats, an official spokesman said.
Additional Chief Secretary , Health and Medical Education Department, Atal Dulloo took round of OPD block , Operation theater Block , various labs inside the Hospital and all blocks of the academic building, where Additional secretary H&ME interacted with the students of 1st Batch of BUMS.
On this occasion, Nodal Officer of the college informed that all the required documents have been submitted to National commission of Indian Systems of Medicine (NCISM), Ministry of AYUSH for granting letter of permission to start the 2nd Batch of BUMS from the current academic session 2021-22. All patients coming to the attached Hospital are provided medicines free of cost, he added.
He directed executing agency J&K Housing Board to expedite the pending work on operation theater so that Honble Lieutenant Governor is requested to inaugurate the BUMS course in the newly established college. He also directed the college administration to speed up the engagement of technical staff /nursing staff /paramedical staff on academic arrangement basis under SO-364 of 2020. He further said that 98 percent of the work is complete and 2% work left behind shall be completed soon so that students, patients, general public is benefitted.On this occasion, among others, Prof. Samia Rashid, Principal of the college, Dr Mohan Singh Director AYUSH , J&K, DGM J&K Housing Board and other officers were present.(JKNS)
