‘Two LeT militants believed to be trapped’
Baramulla, Jul 22: A gunfight broke out between militants and security forces at Warpora village of Sopore of north Kashmir’s Baraamulla district on Thursday.
An official told the news agency that a joint team of Police, Army’s 22 RR, SOG and CRPF 179, 177 and 92 launched a Cordon and Search Operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
He said that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.
A senior police officer also confirmed the exchange of fire between forces and militants.
He said that two militants affiliated with Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) are believed to be trapped in the area.
