FCS&CA realizes fine amounting Rs 21.5 lac from erring shopkeepers

SRINAGAR, JULY 17: The Department of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) has realized a fine of over Rs 21.5 lac from erring shopkeepers across Kashmir during 2021-22 so far.

As per the officials details, FCS&CA department through its enforcement squads and market checking teams imposed a fine of Rs. 21, 54,500 on shopkeepers for violation of officials rates, selling substandard food items and resorting to black marketing and other profiteering misconduct across all ten districts of Kashmir during these six and a half month.

The enforcement squads conducted rigorous market checking drives and sealed 246 business establishments while 65 Reports were filed against the offenders in different police stations during the year 2021-22.

During the current year up to June-16, as many as 209 shopkeepers were penalized. While a fine of Rs. 3.71 lac was recovered from erring shopkeepers during this month.
