Srinagar, 02 Jul 2021. Based on information received about presence of some
terrorists in a specific cluster of houses in Hanjan village of Rajpora area, Pulwama,
joint forces comprising of Lassipora, Pulwama based Rashtriya Rifles, JKP and
CRPF launched an operation in the intervening night of 01/02 July 21.
After laying the initial cordon, deliberate house to house search was carried
out. The terrorists on realising that any attempt to escape would be futile opened
heavy volume of indiscriminate fire injuring Hav Kashiray B of Rashtriya Rifles. He
was evacuated to 92 Base Hospital Srinagar promptly but succumbed to his injuries
enroute, making the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty for the nation.The inner
cordon was quickly readjusted and parties were repositioned in order to react to
terrorists' fire and to pin them down. They were given many chances to surrender but
the terrorists did not pay any heed to the appeals made by the security forces and
retaliated with heavy volume of fire. In the ensuing period, terrorists attempted to
escape multiple times however, each time they were stopped by the alert troops.
Finally, in a two day long operation, five terrorists belonging to LeT were
neutralized. The terrorists, amongst others, included Nishaz Hussien Lone, a
resident of Tral and a Pakistani terrorist. Two AK-47s, One SLR, Two pistols and
other war like stores were recovered from the encounter site.
The intelligence for the operations was assiduously built up over a period of
time. As per Police the terrorists were known to be perpetrators of numerous
notorious acts and had terrorized the people in the area. Their presence in the area
was detrimental to the overall peace and security. The neutralization of these
terrorists has sent a strong message to the perpetrators that under no circumstances
they can spread fear and violence and threaten innocent civil population.
