SAYED KAMRAN ALI
Dental surgeons who are facing humiliation and step-motherly treatment at the hands of the administrations for the last 13 years. Completely ironic and painful yet the administration is swivelling deaf ears to their problems. There has been no initiative from the government to address their resentments despite their repeated petitions and requisitions.
Unemployed dental surgeons protesting in Jammu and Kashmir have entered the 9th day of infinite strike and it’s disappointing that no one from the administration is contending and left them alone, no one is ready to listen to their grievances.
Since 2008 no recruitment for dental surgeons has been carried in Jammu and Kashmir. Presently there are more than 7000 dental surgeons who are unemployed and more than 1000 get over-aged. Due to ignorance by the JKUT Government, these doctors forced to come on the roads and it is not what they understand that the JkUT government makes them languish intentionally to come on the road. In 2014 they did a hunger strike and a few of the doctors were admitted to the emergency ICU, but the Government ignored that the doctors are dying. For 13 years they are agonizing and not even a single post through PSC had been advertised. The reason that the Government given to them is that they do not have funds. If the government does not have funds they should shut down dental colleges and closed the entrance examination for BDS, why are they spoiling the future of brilliant students of Jammu and Kashmir?
Some of them are going to complete their MDS from PGI Chandigarh, what next, even after doing PG from such a prestigious national institute, the only option left for them to go and start their private practice. Dr Nazia Ghani a DDC member, and being from the same profession on the behalf of all the dental surgeons of Jammu and Kashmir through our news medium want to articulate this problem to the honourable Prime minister of India Shri Narendra Modi Ji and LG Manoj Sinha, please seriously look into this matter and give some consolation to their sufferings and protect this Nobel profession and their dignity. After so much struggle, they have nothing left to do.
These doctors are on indefinite strike in Jammu and Kashmir only for this purpose that the government will listen to their problems.
I request your compassion please consider their demands and give them their dignified life. They want legitimate examinations for PSC recruitment so that none of the dental surgeons should have regrets if he or she gets overaged without having any Govt Job. They have only hope that the government will listen to them about their sufferings and hardships. After doing so much hard work to become doctors and wants to serve the nation, they are forced to come on roads for strikes.
Kindly fulfil their demands like absorption of the unemployed dental surgeons through JKPSC and other centrally sponsored schemes. Framing a regular policy about the recruitment of dental surgeons every year based on the number of seats at the UT level in JKUT. Separate directorate of dentistry for smooth recompense of their demand and grievances.
They strongly declared that they expect timely intervention from the government to their indefinite strike and this time if left unheard or unanswered they are confined to send their degrees in huge numbers to respected LG Governor Manoj Sinha since no one is listening to them.
