June 18: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested three drug peddlers in Kulgam and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
Officers from Police Station Qazigund at a checkpoint established at Bonigam Crossing intercepted three persons who on noticing police party tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully by the alert police party. They have been identified as Reshu Pal son of Kuldeep Singh resident of Pathankot, Javeed Ahmad Dar@Jani son of Mohamad Shaban Dar resident of Bonigam and Arshid Ahmad Mir son of Abdul Rashid Mir resident of Beerwah Budgam. During checking, officers were able to recover 01 Kg of Poppy Straw, 50 grams of Heroin and 25 grams of Charas from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 143/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been taken up.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
