May 27: Police in Awantipora along with security forces prevented six youth from joining terror ranks, besides arrested 07 terrorist associates linked with proscribed terrorist outfit JeM.
In multiple raids, Awantipora Police along with 42RR, 180th & 130th BN CRPF apprehended 06 youth who were planning to join terrorist ranks. They have been identified as Aqib Ahmad Dobi son of Ghulam Mohammad Dobi resident of Tral, Mufeez Ahmad Zargar son of Mohammad Syed Zargar resident of Tral-e-Payeen, Saifullah Ahmad Shah son of Ali Mohammad Shah resident of Takiya Gulab Bagh Tral, Liyaqat Ahmhqad Khanday @ Amir son of Abdul Rashid Khanday resident of Amlar Tral, Shoaib Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Shafi Bhat resident of Chersoo Awantipora and Bilal Ahmad Zaboo son of Farooq Ahmad Zaboo resident of Tral-e-Bala. The said youth were motivated and indoctrinated by the terrorist associates and terrorists to join terrorist ranks.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the said misguided youth were motivated by the Pakistan based self style terror commanders to join terrorism and asked them to establish contact with their ground cadre in Awantipora and Tral area.
Moreover, Awantipora Police along with security forces busted a terror module by arresting 07 terrorist associates linked with proscribed terror outfit JeM. They have been identified as Sajad Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Salam Sheikh resident of Pinglish Tral, Adil Hussain Sheikh son of Ghulam Hassan Sheikh, Mohammad Iqbal Baba son of Haji Mohammad Aslam Baba residents of Tral-e-Bala, Yasir Amin Dar son of Mohammad Amin Dar resident of Noorabad Tral-e-Bala, Showkat Ahmad Sheikh son of Mohammad Subhan Sheikh, Ubaid Ahmad Mir son of Mohammad Amin Mir residents of Batagund Tral and Adil Rashid Bhat son of Abdul Rashid Bhat resident of Kranzbal Tral.
As per police records, the said arrested terrorist associates were motivating youth to join the terrorist ranks. Besides, they were also involved in providing logistics, shelter and other kind of support to terrorists of proscribed terror outfit JeM and helping them in transporting arms/ammunition in Tral and Awantipora areas. The arrested terror associates were also in touch with PAK based self style terror commanders through different social media platforms. Incriminating material has also been recovered from them.
In this connection case FIR number 51/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Tral and investigation has been initiated.
