Sopore, 20 May : A north Kashmir based Photojournalist Peerzada Tahir on Thursday was allegedly manhandled by police in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla
According to Tahir, he was stopped by police at NAKA which was established at Police Post bus stand and manhandled. “I was stopped by police without any justification. And a cop thrashed me . He said.
“Despite showing an PRESS identity card and a Curfew pass, Cop pounced on me. I was let go after SHO’s intervention,” Tahir said.
Kashmir Inspector General of Police had assured by making a public statement that journalists/media workers are allowed to work amid the ongoing lockdown.
Meanwhile Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sopore when contacted said, I have sought the report from SHO and matter will be looked into.
