It may be mentioned here that as soon as snow at Gulmarg melted, the Tourism Department has made preparations for keeping the Golf Course there in a state of readiness. As soon as the Covid situation improves and Covid SoPs permit, the Golf Course is planned to be made functional for hosting golfing of national and international activity.

The team of experts assured the CEO, GDA of continued technical assistance from them in bringing this historic golf course back to its pristine glory.

Work in this regard has already been started by the Department at the Golf Course. Considered among the highest green courses in the world, Gulmarg Golf Course was built in 1890 and the first golf championship was organized there in the 1920s.

The addition of Gulmarg Golf Course, which has not been fully operational for a few years, to the Golfing circuit is expected to give a fillip to the golfing activity from this year.

A similar action plan has been planned for Pahalgam by the Department.
