May 05: Continuing its efforts to eradicate menace of drugs from the society, Kulgam police along with Executive Magistrate Wanpoh destroyed Poppy and bung cultivation in Laram Ganjipora areas of Qazigund. Besides, one notorious drug peddler was arrested by Budgam Police and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In Kulgam, a police team from Police Post Mirbazar under the supervision of SDPO Qazigund along with Executive Magistrate Wanpoh have destroyed poppy and bung cultivation on almost 15 kanals of land in Laram Ganjipora areas of Qazigund.
Meanwhile, Budgam Police at a checkpoint established at Kakawring Crossing intercepted a notorious drug peddler identified as Suhail Ahmad Malik son of Abdul Aziz Malik resident of Alamdar Coloney Charar-i-Sharief. During checking, officers of PS Charar-i-Sharief have been able to recover 200 grams of Charas from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 31/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Charar-i-Sharief and investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding cultivation of contrabands in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling & cultivation of contraband substances shall be dealt as per law.
Our consistent actions against such anti-social elements should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
