Market inspection drive intensified at Anantnag, fines imposed on erring traders

ANANTNAG, APRIL 17: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Dr. Piyush Singla, the teams of officials from Revenue, FCS&CA, police, municipality and other concerned departments conducted intensive market checking drives across all Tehsils of the district.

The aim of the drive is ensuring availability of standard quality products at government notified rates, maintaining equitable priceline besides curbing hoarding, black marketing and profiteering of essential commodities.

The officials stressed on the traders to display and abide by the notified rates and avoid the malafide practices.

During the checking, the authorities realised suitable and proportionate fines from the erring shopkeepers.

The inspection squads also interacted with sellers/buyers and urged them to strictly adhere to the Covid-19 SOPs for their own safety and for the safety of the public.

The consumers were appealed to pay only as per the standard rates besides informing the authorities for any violations of the same.

The DC Anantnag has directed the teams to make regular inspections of markets within their jurisdictions and take strict action against those indulging in malpractices.

It was informed that the drive shall continue in all district markets to keep a check on overcharging and other illegal activities by the traders.
