April 04: In order to provide insight to the general public about the seriousness of drug addiction, Handwara Police organised a drug awareness programme in Village Hafrada in the jurisdiction of Police station Vilgam on the directions of SP Handwara Shri Sandeep Gupta-IPS. The awareness programmes was held while following social distancing norms and other protocols.
The awareness programme was chaired by the SHO PS Vilgam. The programme was attended by the respectable citizens of the area including sarpanch, Panchs and youth.
On the occasion, the chairing officer briefed the participants about their role as parents in enriching the mental and physical health of their wards. He also stressed that parents can play pivotal role in assessing their children either he is drug addict or not and may take further steps in rehabilitating their wards with cooperation of police, so that the future generations may be saved.
He further said that to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, public cooperation is necessary and Handwara Police is always available for help to those who are victims of this addiction and will make all possible efforts to help and rehabilitate those affected persons.
General public of the area applauded the role of Handwara Police for organizing such programmes in the area.
