“Union Territory Govt.’s action in allotting 496 kanals of land to a Hindu Temple Organization – Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Trust is illegal and unconstitutional.

I have a strong feeling that the J&K Union Territory Govt. had acted in a wrong direction by allotting 496 Kanals of land to this Hindu Temple Organization. It is a totally illegal and unconstitutional act.

My understanding is that a vast majority of the people of Jammu and Kashmir State have a feeling that the Union Territory Govt. has no authority to allot the Jammu and Kashmir State’s land to any organization like this.

The UT Govt. has acted in a manner as if it is by itself not a secular.

The constitutional position is that no land in the J&K State can be allotted to any religious organization without any legal sanction.

I want to say it further that this kind of wanton communal action can have far- reaching adverse effects on the J&K’s secular institutions.

The Union Territory Govt. should have imagined that it is bound to act only on the basis of the provisions of the Constitution of India and the constitution of Jammu and Kashmir State.”
