March 30: Acting tough against the drug dealings, Police in Anantnag and Handwara have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances including 67Kgs of grinded Cannabis.
Acting on specific information, police party headed by SHO PS Achabal raided a residential house belonging to Siraj Din Shah resident of Shangus Anantnag. During search, 67Kgs of grinded Cannabis were recovered. Subsequently, he has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
A Case FIR No. 21/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered in PS Achabal and investigation has been taken up.
In Handwara, officers at a checkpoint established at Rasripora Kralgund intercepted a suspicious person who tried to escape from spot. Police party tactfully nabbed the accused who has been identified as Amir Reyaz Bhat resident of Kralgund. During search, officers were able to recover 30gms of brown sugar from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
In this regard, case FIR No. 17/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in PS Kralgund and further investigation is in progress.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
