Awantipora Police arrests 02 bootleggers, recovers illicit liquor

March 28: Police in Awantipora arrested two bootleggers and recovered 32 bottles of illicit liquor from their possession.

Officers at a checkpoint established at Nambal Awantipora, intercepted one vehicle Santro Car bearing registration number JK02AC-3801 with two persons on board. They have been identified as Ghulam Nabi Sheikh resident of Sallar and Akhtar Rasool resident of Bijbehara Anantnag.  During search officers were able to recovered 32 bottles of illicit liquor from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Awantipora where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, case FIR No. 34/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in PS Awantipora and investigation into the matter has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding anti social elements in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in anti social activities will be dealt as per law.
