March 26: Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Bandipora have arrested a drug peddler and recovered psychotropic substance from his possession.
Based on specific information, a police party from Police Station Bandipora under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Bandipora established a checkpoint at Ajar Chowk Bandipora. During checking, one person identified as Mohmad Ramzan Sofi son of Abdul Khaliq Sofi resident of Kaloosa Bandipora was intercepted. On his personal checking, officers were able to recover 624 capsules/tablets of banned drugs from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, case FIR number 35/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Bandipora and investigation into the matter has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace as reiterated in our community meetings.
