March 17: Acting tough against social crimes, Awantipora Police have arrested 03 gamblers from a gambling site and seized ₹3240/- stake money.
A police party of Police Station Khrew raided a gambling site in village Sheikh Mohalla Khrew after following an input about gambling activities and apprehended 03 gamblers. They have been identified as Irfan Ahmad Lone, Mohammad Aslam Sheikh and Irshad Ahmad Sheikh all residents of Sheikh Mohalla Khrew.
Officers have seized playing cards and stake money of ₹3240/- from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to PS Khrew where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 14/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Khrew and investigation has been initiated.
Persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
