Modalities reviewed for implementation of PMMSY in Kulgam

KULGAM, FEBRUARY 23: To review modalities for implementation of Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY)/Blue Revolution, a district level Committee meet was held today at Mini-Secretariat, here under the Chairmanship of the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kulgam, Showkat Aijaz Bhat.

Assistant Director Fisheries, Shabir Ahmad (Member Secretary PMMSY) informed that the PMMSY/Blue Revolution Scheme is a flagship programme, launched to augment the fish production, create employment avenues and for the welfare of fishers and fish farmers.

The scheme also includes the establishment of Housing for Fishers.

During the meeting, a draw of lots was conducted for selection of the beneficiaries that are registered and bonafide fishermen of district Kulgam. The final beneficiary list of 23 beneficiaries was selected through a draw of lots.

It was also informed in the meeting that the fish production in the district has reached to 58.85 MTs (both culture and capture) against the target of 55 MTs for the current fiscal.

The meeting was attended by Additional Development Commissioner, Joint Director Planning and all members of committee.
