JAMMU, FEBRUARY 01: The 24th Board of Directors meeting of Jammu and Kashmir Lake and Waterways Development Authority (J&K LAWDA) was held here today under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary Housing and Urban Development Department, Dheeraj Gupta.

Senior officers from various departments like Revenue, Forest, Finance, Tourism, Planning, SMC, UEED and Town Planning attended the meeting while Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, P K Pole, Deputy Commissioner, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary and other Kashmir based officers participated through video conferencing.

Vice Chairman, LAWDA, Tufail Matto, highlighted the achievements and presented the agenda during the meeting through a power point presentation. He elaborately explained various points pertaining to conservation and management of Dal and Nigeen Lakes.

Some of the important issues discussed in the meeting included procurement of lake cleaning machinery, installation of Bio-Digestors and construction of Western Foreshore Road, construction of weed unloading points, re-organization of the Authority, Rehabilitation and Resettlement plan, scientific disposal of weeds and other related concerns. Besides, decision on enhancing the Financial powers of Vice Chairman, LAWDA and action plan to reinforce the enforcement wing was also discussed during the meeting.

All members of the Board putforth their view points and suggestions pertaining to the subject.

While stressing on effective preservation of the prestigious lake, the Chairman directed the Authority to work with zeal and dedication and give thrust on lake cleaning operations.
