Tourism Deptt organizes trekking from Sarain to Mansar

JAMMU, JANUARY 31: Directorate of Tourism, Jammu today organised one day Trek from Sarain to Mansar via Dhergarh in collaboration with Tawi Trekkers.

A group of about 80 Trekkers was flagged off by Mayor, Jammu, Chander Mohan Gupta, and Joint Director Tourism, Neelam Khajuria, from Kala Kendra, Jammu .

Special attraction of the trekking expedition was participation of a 76 year 11 year old trekkers.

The Joint Director Tourism, Jammu, informed that the motive of organising this Trekking is exhaustive reconnaissance of Purmandal Surinsar area and also to explore the possibility of linking Purmandal Surinsar Mohergarh Bhupnergarh as Adventure and leisure circuit.

“Promoting the unexplored destinations of Jammu Division will boost the economy of the area and generate employment opportunities for the host population” she said. She further informed that a series of Adventure activities are in the pipeline in coming days which will include Bi-Cycle Rally on the occasion of World Wetland Day on 2nd Feb, 2021 from R.S. Pura to Suchetgarh Border; 2nd Bike Rally from Jammu-Patnitop-Dudu Basantgarh-Ramnagar-Mansar-Jammu and trekking expeditions in the Doda and Ramban districts.

She asked the Trekkers to explore the nature while traversing through the Mansar-Surinsar Wildlife Sanctuary.

Assistant Director, Tourism, Ambika Bali; Advisor Tawi Trekkers, Prof. Lalit Mangotra, and President Tawi Trekkers, Ram Khajuria, besides other senior officers/officials of the Tourism Department were present on the occasion.
