DC orders enquiry, says “involved won’t be spared”

Anantnag, Jan 08 : The rooftop of Auditourium Boys Government Degree College Anantnag on Friday collapsed resulting in damages to building and loss to crores of rupees.
As per official sources the construction of college building was taken up by Department of Roads and Buildings and its allied agencies in 2017. As per official sources 7 crore of rupees have been spent on construction work so far.

“With the collapse of college building, the initial reports suggested that the shelter suffered 2 crore rupees losses”, KNS has learnt.

As per reports besides rooftoop, assets like chairs, desks, trollies, racks, electronic and digital equipments have been damaged.

Soon after KNS reported the incident, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Kuldeep Krishan Sidha rushed to the spot and took review of the damage.

“I visited here to take stock of the situation and all technicalities are being ascertained right now”, DC Anantnag told KNS and added an enquiry has been ordered to bring the culprits to task.

“Government won’t spare those found guilty in executing this project in a mischevious way”, Sidha said and added “I am going to write Commissioner Secretary, an administrative head of R&B in this regard so that whosoever shown negligence won’t go unpunished”.

DC further said the incident is a “major” setback to public exchequer and administration will not watch it as a mute spectator.

“We are ascertaining the reasons how the structure collapsed when there is no such amount of snow over the rooftop”, said Executive Engineer R&B Qazi Javed Amin while talking to KNS.

Director Colleges Prof. Peerzada Yusuf while speaking to KNS said that college happens to be a property of students and public and any damage to it is “deplorable”.

“Will get the details and are ascertaining the facts, whosoever will be involved in negligece would be brought to justice”, he added.

Principal Degree College Anantnag Prof. Fayaz Ahmad termed the incident “shocking” and “painful”. “The incident is highly shocking and painful. Authorities must book the involved”, Prof Fayaz added.
