Handicrafts Department Kupwara holds Awareness cum Registration Camp at Trehgam

KUPWARA, DECEMBER 30: Handicraft Department, Kupwara today conducted a one day Awareness cum Registration Camp at Trehgam in which Artisans from 04 blocks including Trehgam, Kralpora, Keran and Tangdar participated.

Assistant Director Handicrafts, Muzamil Hussain Chowdry was Chief Guest, on the occasion.

On the occasion, Assistant Director Handicrafts said that the government is committed for upliftment of artisans by introducing various welfare schemes and programmes. He impressed upon the unemployed educated youth to enroll themselves with the department to take advantage of different government schemes.

It was informed that 111 girls of four blocks have already completed their training in different trade including Wood Carving, Carpet, Aari Sepal, Crewl and Sozni.

It was also informed that 40 girls including 20 each from Kralpora and Karnah blocks have been recently trained under Aspirational District Programme. The trainees were undergoing skill training with a monthly honorarium of Rs.1000. Besides, 36 Self Help Groups (SHG) of artisans have also been registered by the department for special financial assistance.

On the occasion, experts highlighted the role of the department in providing skill training to the youth in far flung areas to make them self-reliant.

Principal GHSS Meelyal, Shariq Mohiddin, Handicrafts Training officer Trehgam, Md Abzal Mir, BDC Chairperson Meelyal and Bank Representatives, besides, a large number of artisans participated in the camp.
