Stresses on strict enforcement of MCC, SOPs
SHOPIAN, AUGUST 29: To ensure strict adherence of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and other SOPs for the smooth conduct of Assembly elections in the district, District Election Officer, (DEO) Shopian, Faz Lul Haseeb today convened a meeting of magistrates of Flying Squads and Static Surveillance Teams (FSTs and SSTs) at Mini-Secretariat Shopian.
Speaking on the occasion, the DEO stressed upon the officers to perform election duties with utmost care and seriousness and stay proactive on the ground to ensure free, fair and smooth elections process in the district.
The DEO sensitised the officers about their crucial role and responsibility under SOPs of Election Commission of India on conducting free and fair elections, and called for strictly enforcing the same in their areas of operation. They were asked to enforce Model Code of Conduct (MCC) strictly by using their magisterial powers.
He directed all concerned officers to ensure strict compliance of various norms related to monitoring of campaigning, reporting violations of MCC promptly, tracking complaints on cVigil, enforcing strict vigil on checkpoints in order to curb illegal transactions of cash and kind.
Nodal Officer, MCC (Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz; Dy. DEO, Jahangir Ahmed and other concerned Magistrates of FSTs and SSTs were present on the occasion along with other concerned nodal officers.
