In a swift and effective response to the ongoing flood situation in Tripura, the Assam Rifles have launched extensive Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations under the code name *Op JAL RAHAT*. Two columns from the 18 Assam Rifles, operating under the command of HQ 21 Sector Assam Rifles and IGAR (East), have been deployed across the flood-affected areas of Amarpur, Bhampur, Bishalgarh, and Ramnagar in Tripura.
These dedicated columns, with a combined strength of over 80 personnel, are actively engaged in rescue and relief efforts across the region. The teams have successfully rescued 334 civilians who were stranded due to the rising floodwaters, ensuring their safety and providing them with the necessary support. In addition to the rescue operations, essential rations and supplies have been distributed to 85 individuals affected by the floods, addressing their immediate food needs during this crisis. Moreover, medical aid has been provided to seven civilians, attending to urgent health concerns amidst the challenging conditions.
