My Youth My Pride: Summer Activities expand to Central Kashmir

SRINAGAR, JULY 24: As part of ‘My Youth My Pride’ initiative, summer activities have expanded to Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal districts in Central Kashmir.

The event was inaugurated by the Divisional Sports Officer, Kashmir alongside the Divisional Sports Officer, Central JKSC.

A three-day taekwondo competition began at the Indoor Sports Complex, Polo Ground, showcasing the skills of 150 athletes and captivating the audience. Concurrently, the S.K Indoor Sports Complex hosted badminton matches, with 100 athletes participating with enthusiasm.

In District Budgam, the My Youth My Pride special activities continued with a handball event at Playfield Magam, involving 110 boys and girls. A cycling championship was also held on the Narbal-Gulmarg Road, featuring 40 young cyclists from both genders, whose race along the scenic route drew cheers from spectators.

The Indoor Sports Hall in Budgam hosted a Pencak Silat competition, where 150 athletes from schools and sports clubs vied for glory.

Meanwhile, in Ganderbal, the Indoor Sports Hall in Sehpora hosted a judo championship with 220 participants showcasing their combat skills to an eager crowd.

Divisional Sports Officer, Kashmir, Nusrat Gazala while speaking on the occasion said the My Youth My Pride activities will continue across J&K and will inturn help our youth to get involved in sports activities. “These special activities are part of a larger effort to make J&K a hub of Sports”, she added.

Divisional Sports Officer, Central, Javid ur Rehman said that J&K Sports Council will keep engaging youth in sports activities and provide them with best infrastructure along with allied facilities to prepare them for the best competitions around the world.
