Police arrests drug peddler in Budgam; contraband substances recovered

Budgam, July 09:In continuation of its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Budgam have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substances from his possession.

A police party of Police Post Soibugh at a checkpoint established at Dayar Kadal Soibugh intercepted a suspicious person carrying a nylon bag who on seeing the Police party tried to flee away from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. During search, charas wrapped in a corn husk like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as. Javid Ahmad Sheikh son of Gh Mohd Sheikh resident of Ichkoot Budgam. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 272/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Budgam and investigation has been taken up.

We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law.“`
