_Illegal extraction & transportation of minerals_ Police seizes 7 vehicles; arrested 7 drivers in Baramulla & Kulgam

*July 09:* “`Cracking a whip on illegal mining & transportation of minerals, police have seized 07 vehicles and arrested 07 drivers in Baramulla & Kulgam.

In Baramulla, a police party under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg assisted by SHO Police Station Kunzer seized 3 vehicles (3 Tipper) & arrested 3 drivers involved in illegal extraction/ transportation of minerals at Kunzer Baramulla. They have been identified as Abdul Majeed Sheikh son of Abdul Rahim resident of Karhama, Bilal Ahmad Shah son of Mohammad Akbar resident of Takiya Batpora & Bilal Ahmad Ganie son of Habibullah resident of Ugmuna. Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Kunzer and investigation set into motion.

In Kulgam, police parties of Police Station Devsar and Police Post Jawahar Tunnel seized 04 vehicle (Tractors) & arrested 04 drivers involved in illegal extraction/ transportation of minerals at Devsar and Sadiwara. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Devsar and Police Station Qazigund and investigation set into motion.

Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.“`
