Sawjian Today, Government Model Higher Secondary School Sawjian, Poonch, organized a grand felicitation function to honor the winners and participants of the Zonal Level Inter-School Sports competition, organized by the Department of Youth Sports and Services, Poonch. During the event, the Monthly Clean Class Running Trophy was also awarded.
Under the leadership of Principal Anwar Khan, the school has initiated a monthly Clean Class Running Trophy, awarded to the class that maintains the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene. The prestigious trophy for June 2024 was proudly claimed by the students of the 10th class.
In the recent sports competition held on 27 June at BSF Ground Mandi, a total of 32 students from the school showcased their talents. The school’s Kho Kho team, led by Nahida Bhatt, secured the first place in the girls’ category. Additionally, Jameel Ahmed achieved the second position in Chess, while the Kabaddi team also earned a commendable second position. The students demonstrated their prowess in various sports including Volleyball, Kho Kho, Kabaddi, Badminton, and Chess, under the expert guidance of Physical Education Lecturer Parvez Ahmed Khan.
However, it is noteworthy that the posts of Physical Education Master and Physical Education Teacher remain vacant at the school. This shortage affects the performance of talented students, who otherwise have great potential to excel further with proper coaching and mentorship.
Principal Anwar Khan awarded Certificates of Participation and appreciation to the students. In his address, he emphasized the importance of sports and cleanliness. “Sports play a crucial role in the holistic development of students, teaching them discipline, teamwork, and resilience. Cleanliness, on the other hand, is essential for a healthy learning environment and instills a sense of responsibility and pride among students.”
The winners of this competition will advance to represent the school in the District Level Inter-Zonal competition, marking another step forward in their athletic journey.
