KULGAM, JULY 04: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan, today chaired a meeting of the District Level Committee under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) to discuss various measures aimed at curbing drug abuse and narcotic trade in the district.
The meeting reviewed the implementation of decisions and directives passed in previous sessions.
A thorough discussion was held on several issues related to drug addiction, areas of concern, hotspots of drug use, and the actions taken by the concerned departments to combat the menace of drugs.
The meeting also focused on the efforts of enforcement agencies in addressing drug abuse and narcotic trafficking within the district.
It was reported that 16 Panchayats comprised of 27 villages in the district have been declared drug-free to date.
It was also shared that during the current month, 08 drug peddlers were arrested, and 08 FIRs were registered.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed the concerned officials to convene regular meetings of Tehsil and Gram Panchayat level committees.
The Assistant Drug Controller reported that they have conducted 58 inspections suspended 06 Licenses and 17 samples were also lifted and sent for analysis to ascertain the quality parameters in the current month.
It was also shared that the district achieved a 100% target in the installation of CCTV cameras, and efforts are underway to achieve a 100% target in CBS.
The meeting was attended by DPO, Abdul Rasheed, ACP, GM DIC, DSP HQ, and other officers from the police and civil administration.
