However, the authorities have also closed 86 Km Bandipora—Gurez road following fresh snowfall at Razdan top in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

Reports reaching said that Gulmarg, Gurez and other higher reaches in northern Kashmir have experienced fresh snowfall during the intervening night of Friday-Saturday.

The overnight incessant rainfall, however, drenched the plains of Kashmir here, thus bringing down the temperature further in the Valley.

In wake of the fresh snowfall, the authorities have ordered closure of Bandipora-Gurez road.

An official said that the road has been closed today morning after Razdan top along the road received atleast six inches of fresh snowfall.

Notably, the road was thrown open for one way traffic just a week ago after hectic efforts by the authorities.

Pertinently, the road usually remains closed during winter months due to heavy snowfall in the area.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department (MeT) has predicted moderate rainfall across Jammu and Kashmir till today late evening.

“There may be some occasional breaks in between and heavy rainfall at one or two places can’t be ruled out. Higher reaches may receive snowfall ranging between 1 inches and 1 ft,” an official in MeT said.

He said that another spell of rain is expected tomorrow, particularly towards afternoon and evening. “Possibility of a few more spells around 21-23 April and 26-28 April,” he added.
