Karnah, Kupwara: In a harrowing turn of events, the residents of Karnah, Kupwara, have been left reeling from the aftermath of heavy rainfall. The downpour has triggered landslides, blocking roads and leading to the collapse of several buildings in both Tangdar and Teetwal blocks.

As the community grapples with the devastation, the civil administration’s response has fallen short, drawing ire from the local civil society. Despite the urgency of the situation, there has been a noticeable absence of measures taken by the administration to address the crisis.

The failure to promptly assist affected residents has left many feeling abandoned and frustrated. Civil society members in Karnah are voicing their discontent, emphasizing the urgent need for action from the authorities.

With roads impassable and infrastructure damaged, the situation demands immediate attention and intervention. The people of Karnah are calling on the civil administration to step up and provide the necessary assistance to mitigate the impact of the rainfall emergency.

As the community rallies together to navigate this challenging period, the spotlight remains on the civil administration to fulfill its duty and alleviate the plight of those affected by the heavy rainfall in Karnah.

Ex MLC Karnah, Javaid Mirchal, told our correspondent that the administration should take precautionary measures amidst ongoing heavy rainfall. While speaking to SDM Karnah, he said the meteorological department already gave a red signal. SDM Karnah along with Tehsildar Karnah are on visits to rain-affected areas of Karnah Sub-Division. Restoration work on inner links is in progress. Men & machinery of Beacon, R&B & PMGSY are on the job.
