Another police official they are investigating the matter. “Some of the arrested have been shifted to juvenile centre and rest are in the police lockup,” he said.

“We are in touch with their families and after proper investigations they will be released later,” the police official said.

SSP Srinagar, Sandeep Chaudhary attended a counselling session for the arrested youth at police station Rainwari wherein he urged parents to “guide their wards so that they become law-abiding citizens.”

Earlier on 28th March, a musical event was organized by Tourism Department at Badamwari which witnessed a huge gathering of people. On April 01, Srinagar police claimed to have arrested 20 youth for the incident, following which a case was registered under FIR number 11/2021 at Police Station Rainawari.

The official said, “Police used maximum restraint to restore order as the use of any kind of force would have created a stampede like situation at the venue.”
