The social welfare office Baramulla has made a remarkable initiative by establishing a District Hub solely dedicated to the benefit and upliftment of women. This hub will focus on various aspects of women empowerment, including education, healthcare, skill development, and job opportunities.
As part of this endeavor, a heartwarming event took place at the Sub-District Hospital Sopore, where a special distribution was organized under the scheme, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao. The distribution focused on providing blankets and nutrition kits to mothers who had recently given birth to baby girls. This initiative aims to support and encourage the nurturing of girl children, while also highlighting the importance of gender equality and women’s welfare.
The distribution event was graced by the presence of several officials, including Shabir Ah Raina, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Sopore, Distt. Social welfare officer Sajad Ahmad Bhat, Mr Fayaz Ahmad Lone, the Tehsil Social Welfare Officer of Sopore, and BMO Sopore Dr Zulufkar Hussain.
Expressing his views on the initiative, Sajad Ahmad, the District Social Welfare Officer, emphasized the significance of providing support to new mothers and their baby girls through these distribution programs. He mentioned that the blankets and nutrition kits not only serve as a gesture of support, but also play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of the newborn girls and their mothers.
Sajad Ahmad further emphasized the importance of such initiatives in encouraging society to value and nurture the girl child. He stated that the efforts of the social welfare office will continue to expand and intensify in order to benefit the people and promote gender equality.
Fayaz Ahmad, the Tehsil Social Welfare Officer of Sopore, expressed his optimism about achieving true gender equality in the district with the collective efforts of officials like Shabir Ah Raina.
