Police seizes 02 vehicles, arrests 03 person in Handwara

Illegal extraction and transportation of minerals

Acting tough against the persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, police have arrested 03 persons and seized 02 vehicles in Handwara.

A police party led from Police Station Handwara led by SHO PS Handwara under the supervision of SDPO Handwara seized 02 vehicles (01 JCB and 01 Tipper) and arrested 03 persons after following specific input about illegal extraction and transportation of minerals. They have been identified as Faizan Ahmad Shiekh son of Mohd Sultan resident of Badrkal, Javaid Ahmad Rather son of Ab Gaffar resident of Drugmullah and Farooq Ahmad Lone son of Gh Ahmad resident of Gulgam Kupwara.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 246/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Handwara and further investigation has been initiated.

Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.“`
