No outbreak of FMD at village Khiram & adjacent paties; only a few sporadic cases reported: DIO Anantnag

Says cases treated concurrently as routine affair, whole area already taken up for FMD vaccination from July, 13th

On receipt of information regarding outbreak of Foot and Mouth disease among the live stock at village Khiram and adjacent paties (Gojar Basti), a team of experts headed by Disease Investigation Officer (DIO) Anantnag was rushed to the area to take stock of the situation.

The necessary instructions were passed on to the team to ascertain the facts of the news, and ensure all the ailing livestock of the area, if any, are examined and provided necessary medication. It was also ordered to ensure that the rest of the animals are vaccinated against foot and mouth disease without any fail.

Disease Investigation Officer Anantnag along with a team of experts visited the area on 24th July and reported that no such outbreak of FMD is prevalent. Only a few sporadic cases have been reported which have been treated concurrently as a routine affair.

The whole area has already been taken up for FMD vaccination from 13th of July on Mission mode and 400 doses were conducted till date
