Marching towards achieving the set target of 145696, a total of 109336 households, schools, Anganwadi centres and other public institutions have been provided with safe portable tap water in the district and the mission continues to make rapid strides towards achieving ‘Har Ghar Jal’ dream.

Extending appreciation with regard to the achievement, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar complimented the team of officers for this feat and reiterated her commitment for 100% saturation under the scheme.

Dr Sehrish said that the progress achieved in the said sector is a remarkable journey for the mission as it has resulted in significant socio-economic benefits to the rural population.

Elaborating it, Dr Sehrish said that the regular tap water supply has given a great relief to the people, especially women and young girls, who earlier carried heavy bucket loads of water from far-fetched areas to meet their daily household needs and now, the time saved, can be used for income generation activities, learning new skills and supporting children’s education.

Meanwhile, the DC also laid emphasis on the executing agencies to redouble their efforts so that cent percent saturation and desired target is achieved within the stipulated time frame.
