Ganderbal July 16: Jabbar Foundation Chief Patron and Former MLA Ganderbal Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar on Sunday hit out at the National Conference (NC) for shedding crocodile tears in the name of erosion of Special Status of Jammu and Kashmir, saying “it was the NC which is responsible for systematic and basic erosion of the state since 1956”.
Chief Patron Jabbar Foundation Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar said that Abudullahs’ are the real architects of erosion of special status and that they can no longer going to befool educated masses of Jammu and Kashmir. While address a meeting of prominent workers of Ganderbal Town in Check Fatehpora Park Ganderbal, Mr. Jabbar said, “Accountability must start from 1975 Accord when Sheikh Sahab ratified previous erosion in lieu of power.”While taking a dig at NC Jabbar said that the NC has been shedding crocodile tears to save itself treachery and deceit it committed with the people of Jammu and Kashmir during the past six decades. Whether it was 1975 Sheikh-Indra or 1986 Farooq-Rajiv Gandhi accord, the NC not only fiddled with the political and financial autonomy of the State but also trampled the unique identity of Jammu and Kashmir.
Jabbar further said Omar Abdullah talks about being sole safeguarding party of Article 370 then why did he continue as the Foreign Minister and did not protest when NDA government at centre rejected the autonomy resolution passed in the J&K assembly.
“Why did Omar Abdullah not resign in protest at that time. It is NC who has been all along in coalition with Congress, which was responsible for eroding and undermining the special identity of erstwhile state. It not only abolished the 1953 position but also the post of prime minister and sadre riyaysat of j&k thereby irreversibly damaging Art 370”.
The surrender in 1975 and robbery of 1987 are perhaps the last nails in the coffin as far as internal autonomy goes”, he added.
Mr Jabbar said, “Do you remember that once upon a time these traditional politicians misled you on the name of the so-called plebiscite movement for more than two decades? And, finally, they turned away from this so-called movement to attain power for themselves. They did not bother about the people who had been put into jail for being affiliated with the misleading slogan of ‘plebiscite’. Then, after some time they started chanting slogans of ‘autonomy’ and ‘self-rule’. Did they get these things for you?”
Unlike the traditional parties, Jabbar Foundation will never mislead people through fake promises and deceptive slogans even if this policy does not fetch us any political dividends.”
