The cricket tournament organized by 179 CRPF in which 22 teams participated in North Kashmir’s Sopore concluded on Saturday, with Janwara emerging as the winner.
The tournament was held in memory of Shaheed Nisar Ahmad Lone, who sacrificed his life for the country in a terrorist attack in Sopore in 2007.
The tournament was aimed to promote sports in the region and to encourage young talent to come forward and showcase their skills.
The tournament has received a positive response from the locals, who are thrilled to see such events happening in their town. It has not only provided a platform for young cricketers to showcase their skills but has also boosted the morale of the local youth.
*The final match was played between Janwara Vs Shiva Stallians in which Janwara won by 9 wickets*.
On the occasion, MC Chairperson Sopore Masarat Kar attended the occasion as a chief guest, besides Dysp Dar Dr. Hilal Ahmad Hilal, Principal Hr Sec Sopore, CO 179 Shri Rabish Kumar, 2/1c 179 Shri Navin Chandra, 2/1 C 177 Santosh Kumar,AC Shri Anand Kumar,AC Joginder singh,Apni Party leader Javaid Ahmad Bhat, President Zaingeer sports Irfan Dilawar Bhat, Haji Mohammad Ashraf Trade President,President Teachers association Zaingair zone dangerpora Mr Javaid Iqbal Dar, Irshad Ahmad Bhat brother of Shaheed Nisar Ahmad Lone was also present on the occasion.

The Runners Up was awarded Rs 11000 and the man of the tournament was awarded to Amir Ali was awarded a 3000 cash prize with a memento.
