Through Daily YSS Round ups, Departmental activities get widely publicised: JD YSS  Srinagar May 27: Director Youth Services and Sports J&K (YSS) Subash C Chhibber has said that the Department is committed to channelise sports talent in youth at grassroots levels and every step is being initiated to engage maximum number of youngsters in games and recreational sports. Meanwhile Joint Director (JD)  Kashmir of the Department Waseem Raja while highlighting the importance of publicity for showcasing sports talent of the J&K youth has said that the Department has nominated District Publicity Coordinators from all the 20 districts of the Union Territory and with their dedicated coordination with the Media & Publicity Wing of the Department our activities are getting highlighted widely through all the mediums of the Mass Media. He hoped that the rejuvenated Media campaigning would help in attracting more youth towards sports in the days to come.  The Department under it’s various sports activities engaged thousands of youth in different games and competitions. The Department  YS&S Daily RoundUp (NORTH KASHMIR) Under Plantation Drive and Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan Program YSS is Encouraging prevention of Drug Abuse and Environmental Conservation in north Kashmir’s Bandipora. In collaboration with District Administration Bandipora, the Department of Youth Services & Sports J&K organized a plantation drive and Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan program at BHSS Dawar Gurez Bandipora on 27th May 2023. The event aimed to raise awareness about drug abuse prevention and promote a clean and green environment. Shamas Ud Din Bhat, Principal BHSS Dawar, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The program featured a painting competition showcasing the students’ creativity, a speech competition demonstrating their oratory skills, and an awareness rally in which the students actively participated. The event fostered a sense of responsibility among the students towards their community and emphasized the importance of maintaining a drug-free society. The diverse gathering included students, teachers, senior citizens, PRIS representatives, and religious personalities. Mufti Irshad delivered a poignant speech shedding light on the critical subject of drug addiction and its detrimental effects on individuals and society as a whole. In addition to the Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan program, an Inter-School Volleyball and Kabaddi tournament for U14/U17 boys was organized at the picturesque HK Stadium Gurez. This sporting event aimed to promote physical fitness, teamwork, and healthy competition among the young athletes. In BARAMULLAH Inter-School Road Race was organised to encourage Sportsmanship and Healthy Competition Among Young Athletes. The Department of Youth Services & Sports J&K organized an exhilarating inter-school road race for under 14/17 boys & girls on 27th May 2023 in Zone Jhulla and Zone Sopore. The event aimed to foster sportsmanship, physical fitness, and healthy competition among young athletes from various schools. In Zone Jhulla, approximately 300 students, both boys and girls under 14/17, showcased their running skills and endurance in the road race. The challenging route covered a total distance of 8 Kilometres, taking the participants through Jabla bridge to HSS Salamabad. The route was well-marked, ensuring the safety of the runners. Similarly, in Zone Sopore, the event was flagged off by the Zonal Physical Education Officer. Starting from Amargarh, the road race culminated in BHSS Sopore, with nearly 100 girls under 14/17 participating enthusiastically. The participants exhibited remarkable determination and a competitive spirit throughout the race. These events provided a platform for young athletes to demonstrate their running skills, fostered a sense of healthy competition, and promoted physical fitness among students. During the ceremony held after the race, the winners of each category were awarded for their exceptional performances.   Sports activities are in full swing in southern districts of Kashmir Division. A group of students from different institutions of district Pulwama was taken to Nature walk over the lush green meadows of world famous wildlife sanctuary Dachigaam on Saturday. The Contingent was there on the trip under the supervision on DYSSO Pulwama  and many other officials of the Department. The Department is of the aim to provide the students to experience  Crisp air, the scent of fresh rain, the melodic echo of birds reverberating off tall, lush trees as it will  promote better attention spans, self-discipline, creativity, physical fitness, and social connection in students. It can also help  to lower the stress levels and make them more engaged in learning. Meanwhile Zone Kakapora and Awantipura  organised football tournament for girls. On both the venues a larger participation was recorded. Both the tournaments were inaugrated by the concerned ZPEOs in presence of the officials of the Department of YSS.  Similarly Youth Services and Sports Kulgam’s Sports Zone Yaripora conducted an inter-school zonal level competition in the discipline of Volleyball and Kabbadi for Boys under 14 and under 17 categories in the premises of BHSS Yaripora, in which 544  students from various schools of the zone actively participated. During the inaugural ceremony a spacial anti drug pledge was observed to refrain the students from the present day drug menace    YSS Shopian organised a Kabaddi match of girls U/14 and U/17 age group  at Zainepora Shopian and  Cricket  match of U/19 girls  in Zone Imamsahib today which was Inaugurated by principal HSS Zainepora who spanking on the occasion impressed upon all to actively participate in games and sports to keep yourself healthy and fit. More than this district Anantnag witnessed a variety of activities .  Under another novel initiative of the Department sports activities activities are being organised for tribal people in various Kashmir based districts. DDC Member Choudary Akhter Kasana (DDC-Hiller Shahabad) E-Inaugurated Tribal Sports Mela Events on Saturday at far flung area Manzmoh at Govt.Higher Secondary School Manzmoh in which Tug Of War, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Carom, and Chess were among the games played at the venue.  Speaking virtually on this occasion Worthy DDC Member  C. A. Kasana appreciated the Department for taking such steps in which both youth & Senior citizens took part in real sportsmanship  spirit and also shared the benefits of such activities. District Youth Services & Sports Officer Anantnag thanked the Local youth & Senior Citizens for being part of this initiative once again as the the Department is timely engaging the tribal population frequently.  Pertinently a total of around 250 people were part of these tribal activities. In another event Sports Zone Mattan competitions in Volleyball, Kabaddi & Kho-Kho for Girls Under the Age Group of 14 were organised at Sports Stadium Mattan in which a total of 305 souls took part.  Sports Zone Dooru & Verinag also organized One day Trekking for students. Young students trek the route of Verinag hills in which around 40 students took part. Zone Bhijbehra Inaugurated days Zonal level tournament in Volleyball, Kabaddi & Kho-Kho at Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School Bhijbehra. Inter School Zonal Level events were conducted in various Zones i,e. Khansahib, Budgam , Charari-sharief and Nagam. Starting with Sports Zone Khan sahib one day Trekking event of Boys & Girls from Rayir Beeru to Gojithaji LAAB was held. Sports Zone Budgam conducted inter school zonal level competition for Girls U/14 and U/17 at GHS Ompora. The said event was inaugurated by ZPEO. Zone Charari-sharief started one day trekking event of Boy’s & Girl’s under AAG Boy’s from BHSS Charari-sharief to Rupwan and Girls from GHSS Charari-sharief to Garzan dam. Sports Zone Nagam today concluded Tug of war competition.
