Karnah// There is peace on the borders after agreeing to implement ceasefire and other agreements along the Line of Control as well as all sectors adjacent to it in a closed-door DGMO-level meeting on February 2021. There is peace now, people are demanding the government to build better roads, provide better medical facilities and other basic facilities instead of building underground bunkers. There were violations of the agreement, but the officials described them as minor violations
12 civilians and 19 security personnel were killed during ceasefire violations in 2017 and 2140 cases of cease fire violation were found in year 2018 agreements were signed in 2018. There were 3479 violations of the ceasefire agreement in the year 2019.
In the year 2020, 46 people lost their lives in shelling between india and Pak while there were 5133 ceasefire violations during this period.
On February 3, 2021, the Ministry of Home Affairs stated in Parliament that 72 security personnel and 70 civilians were killed during ceasefire violations on the borders in 2018-19 and 2020. In these three years, 10,752 ceasefire violations were committed. During the violations, 364 security personnel were injured and 341 civilians were also injured.
A ceasefire agreement was reached between the two countries in the year 2003, but the exchange of shelling by the sides marking each other’s positions on its famous borders continued with frequency, resulting in rampant cross-border killings. After the agreement reached at the DGMO level on 25th, the ceasefire agreement has been violated only three times, but this is a minor violation. However, the people living on the borders are demanding from both the countries to maintain a similar and peaceful environment
