BVR Subrahmanyam appointed new CEO of NITI Aayog

Former IAS officer BVR Subrahmanyam was appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of NITI Aayog on Monday.

The former Commerce Secretary takes over from Parameswaran lyer, who has been named as the Executive Director of World Bank.

According to an official communique, “The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Shri B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, IAS (CG:87) (Retd.) as Chief Executive Officer, NITI Aayog, vice Shri Parameswaran lyer, upon his appointment as Executive Director. World Bank Headquarters, Washington DC, USA, for a period of two years from the date of assumption of the charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is cartier, on the tors and conditions previously approved in respect of appointment of Sh Parameswaran lyes as CEO. NITI Aayog.”  B.V.R Subramaniyam is a 1988-batch JK cadre Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer who is empaneled as a secretary in the central government and is experienced with conflict zone administration.     He is former Principal Secretary Finance department of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. He took over from Subarmanyam on 20 June 2020 following the collapse of the PDP-BJP coalition government. He has previously served in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) under both Manmohan Singh and Narendra Modi. He has been instrumental in containing insurgency in Chhattisgarh in the 2010s.
