Kupwara: Indian army always stand beside to aid locals other than gaurding borders. People are being benefitted from many welfare schemes introduced by Army and BSF in far-flung area of karnah. The Indian army and BSF have developed good ties with locals, even in times of troubles voluntary services are given to locals, beside  their own legitimate duties. Indian army is doing great things for people, beside keeping an eye on borders. Indian army and BSF also keeps an eagle’s eye on the internal security so that law and order doesn’t worsen at all. Locals complain that the local administration takes alot of time to address thier problems, however Indian army and BSF are always ready to take immediate action to settle down the  issues of general public. The Indian army and BSF feel satiated in settling the problems of inhabitants. With their  endeavours a better and progressive society is brewing to take shape.  The Indian army and BSF keep a remedial vigilance and reach village to village to create awareness among the masses. Medical camps are being organised and free medicines have been distributed among needy ones. People who couldn’t reach hospital to get medical attention, for such people Army and civil doctors reach their doorstep to provide them medical assistance. Indian army and BSF have given alot of facilities to people from constructing roads to canals to drains and making passenger-sheds on the roadside for passengers who keep on waiting for vehicles. This approach been a  goodwill gesture for the people.  Inter school quiz programs are being held to give exposure to the untapped talents of school going children of both private as well as government schools. The Students who perform well in games are awarded with prizes and appreciation certificates by the Indian army and BSF, so that they may not indulge in bad activities and  play their part in nation building as they are assets to nation. The students of several schools are sent to outside Jammu and Kashmir under Goodwill scheme for educational as well as historical tours so that they could do better on educational fronts and gather information about historical places as well as monuments.  Indian army and BSF also holds vetenary camps in different hamlets to treat the live stocks of locals and distribute free medicines among them. In order to keep people especially youth away from drugs and smuggling of drugs the Indian army has started different cultural as well as musical activities in different villages which are on the edge of LOC. In border areas, besides musical programs Army organises cricket, Volleyball and Football tournaments. People gather to witness them in huge numbers. The young players take part in such events with alot of excitement. Unemployed youth have been given jobs as porters by the Indian army. Vocational Training Center has been established to give computer training, cutting and sewing skills to youth. Coaching centers have been opened for students who are pursuing higher studies. The Indian army comes forward to aid special abled people every year. Medical camps are conducted where services of specialists are taken to aid blind and amputees. The specially abled people are supplied with wheelchairs and artificial parts.  The small hamlets of Jammu and Kashmir which are situated right on the LOC close due to rain and snow accumulation. In order to restore roads, Machinery of Beacon with the aid of Indian army remain always forefront. The problems of people multiply with the arrival of winters as the road from Chowkibal to Karnah closes for vehicular traffic.   The dead bodies are not allowed to move from Chowkibal due to accumulation of snow on the road. The inhabitants of Karnah had to pass through difficult phases to give last rites to their dead bodies this year. The relatives, sometimes, made requests to local administration but after a week’s time it was Indian Army and BSF who helped desperate people and dead bodies were taken to Karnah for burials. The locals have felt the need to have a good laison between the Indian army and local administration else people have to suffer miserably. As the four dead bodies which remained lying for days together had to be airlifted only, then DC KUPWARA intervened and  established contact with Commonder BSF, and eventually helicopter service was given for airlifting mortal remains to their respective places. DC KUPWARA’S efforts are commendable as he reaches people even during such tough weather conditions.
