Takes out rally to create awareness among masses about importance of Wetlands

SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 02: The J&K Lake Conservation and Management Authority (LCMA) today celebrated ‘World Wetland Day’ with the theme ‘Prioritize Wetland Restoration’.  On the occasion, Watershed Management Division of J&K LCMA organised a rally to create awareness among the people about the importance of wetlands.  The employees of Watershed Management division besides the locals took part in the rally.  The rally started from the Office of Watershed Management division Ishber Nishat and concluded near Foreshore Road.  Speaking on the occasion, the Officers of LCMA said that Wetlands play an essential role in maintaining many natural cycles and supporting a wide range of biodiversity.  They said LCMA is taking every possible step to ensure the proper conservation and management of the Dal/Nigeen Lakes besides its catchment area.  They also took a pledge to dedicate themselves to this mission.
